A 3-DAY EXCURSION TO NOEL KEMPFF M. BY AIR PLANE FROM THE CITY OF SANTA CRUZ

First Day.-
At 7:00 a.m. you will be picked up from your hotel or home by our personnel and be taken to El Trompillo’s Airport. There we will board a small airplane which will take us to the “National Park Noel Kempff Mercado”. We will arrive in “Los Fierros Camp”, located in the South part of the Park after a 1 ½ hour flight. During the flight we will have the opportunity to appreciate from up-high the exuberant, virgin jungle. We will also fly over the impressing “Caparú” plateau and the vast pampas or prairies. After landing in “Los Fierros” Camp, we will get ready to go on a 2-night and 3-day journey by land in a 4X4 vehicle, where we will visit different exotic sites and have the chance to observe the abundant wild life. Our first stop on the journey will be “El Encanto´s” waterfall which is about 40 kilometer away from “Los Fierros” Camp. During this part of the journey we have to keep our eyes wide-open to see the exotic birds such as macaws and parrots, and mammals such as the tapir (Tapirus terrestris), spider-monkeys and many others. We will leave the vehicle some kilometers before reaching “El Encanto´s” waterfall to continue on a 2-hour hike, since it is impossible to arrive to the place by car. We will be hiking on a path through the exuberant tropical rain forest where the trees seem to reach as high as the sky and we will have the chance to see some more wildlife. “El Encanto” waterfall is 80 meters high. It falls from the top of the Caparú Plateau and it forms an immense natural pool of crystal-clear waters. As a reward for our effort in reaching this amazing place, we will have the chance to swim in the paradise-like pool with refreshing waters. After this exciting and rewarding journey we will go back hiking on the same path until we reach the place where we will set camp to spend the night, or where we left the vehicle to drive back to Los Fierros

Second day:
We will get up early in the morning to explore the surrounding of “Los Fierros” and to hike a trail near by. After lunch we start the 1 1/2- hour drive on a road that will take us close to the foot of the “Caparú” plateau where we will leave that vehicle and continue our journey on foot for approximately 1 1/2 hour through the dense jungle, until we arrive to the foot the of the plateau, which is 600 meters above the surrounding plains. There we will set up our tents for the night or if we have time and energy we could also hike, all the way up to the top, that way we will have more time and one night left to spend it “Los Ferros”.

Third day:
If we slept at the food of the plateu, we could get up early the nexth to take advantage of the cool weather during the early hours of the morning. The ascent to the top of the Caparú plateau is hard, and good physical condition is required. Those who feel they don’t have the required fitness to do this part of the journey, can stay at the bottom of the mountain enjoing the surrounding views and the sound of a small waterfall nearly. As we climb higher and higher, the view of the surrounding jungle broadens, making it possible for us to see from the top an immense lagoon (Chaplin Lake) in the middle of the exuberant vegetation. We also have the opportunity to see birds like the king volture flying in circles near by. Once we arrive at the top, we will rest for a while to enjoy the beautiful breath-taking panoramic view of the vast lands and jungle, we also have the option to walk for about 1 hour on the top of the plateau to enjoy the beauty of this place. Afterwards we will start the descent back to the foot of the mountain and after a short rest there we will hike back to the place where we left the vehicle. Once on the road it will take us 1 1/2 hour to get to “Los Fierros” camp.
At about 4:00 p.m. we will say good bye to this wonderful park to board the small plane which will take us back to Santa Cruz city, where a vehicle will be waiting, to take to yours place. End of our services, Thanks.
