Our company has divided the road in three safety legs, which differ from one another not only in safety procedures but also in traffic rules, weather, length and topography.
· Leg 1
The first leg is almost all asphalt down hill. With 21 Kms. in total length 8 Kms. uphill and 3 out of those on gravel, it's certainly challenging.
· Leg 2
It is only 10 Kms. long but with a number of cliffs ranging from 200 mts. straight down fall to 900 mts. Most accidents (buses, trucks, etc) happened in this section, being that the reason why this leg is known as the Death Road. In this leg both groups will go at a lower speed.
· Leg 2
This leg is the longest (32Kms.) and it runs at an altitude that ranges from 2.500 mts and 1.100 mts. It is lots of fun to ride on it as the road is wider and the temperature much warmer than the previous two. |
