Tourism in Toro toro - Potosí
Toro Toro is located in the north of Potosí. Its extension is 166 square kilometers; its altitude is from 2000 to 3.850 meters above sea level.
Toro Toro festivity is in July 25; many celebrations are carried out in honour to Santiago saint.
It was declared National Park in 1989. It has many beautiful landscapes; their main attractions are the biggest caves of Bolivia where can be observed thousands of dinosaurs footprints, fossils and archaeological remains.
Toro Toro landscape is full of mountains, all size stones and running waters.
Climate
Temperature average is 18 degrees; in summer to 26 degrees.
How to arrive
You leave from Potosí and Cochabamba to Toro Toro.
In Cochabamba you can depart from Republica avenue between 6 de Agosto. The buses fare is 20 Bs. approximately.
If you want to flight by light aircraft; it lasts 25 minutes and the tickets are 140 $us.

Tourist attractions
National Park
It is one of the most beautiful national parks in Bolivia. It is an ideal place to do palaeontology and cultural researches, because of its fossils, dinosaurs and remains richness.
Inside there are more than 1000 kind of plants, its varied fauna is characterized by having animals that lives in Andean and occidental zones.
Caves
The caves are one of the main attractions in Toro Toro National Park. Eleven of them were explored by many researchers; however there are 35 caves more.
- Humajalanta
It means water that disappears on the soil. It is located 8 Km away from the village. It is one of the biggest caves of Bolivia, since it covers 7 Kilometers.
Visiting the cave is a great adventure, since there are many obstacles for that, it is necessary to carry a torch, a rope; adequate clothing and shoes mainly don’t be scared on the dark.
- Chiflón
The cave is ideal for people who love adventure tourism because inside, it is riskier since you have to cross through water. Inside there are stalactites and stalagmites that took amazing shapes.
Surroundings
- Vergel
It is situated three kilometres away from the village. They are similar to waterfalls which go out from the rocks.
- Batea Q´oca
In this zone you can observe cave paintings which reflect “Incaica” culture.
- Stone house
It is also called “Pachamama Wasi”, stone museum where are creative works with zone stones.
