The first Jesuit mission was built in this zone in 1691. Its main festivals are the Carnival, the Holy Week and the Habeas Christi.

The temple is richly carved in wood. It has been declared Cultural Human Patrimony by the UNESCO.

It is interesting to visit here the house of the Bolivian president German Busch (1937 – 1939), as well as the locations of the Tumbos of Suruquiso, Agüas Calientes and Piedras de San Francisco.
